NEET 2023 will be held in the year 2023 under the supervision of the National Testing Agency (NTA). It has also been assured that the NTA would ensure that the examination will be held once a year, as in prior years. NEET 2023 will be held using a computer-based* basis, as opposed to prior years. This action is also being made so that applicants do not have any problems with the exams and may receive respite in May 2023. Only the NEET-UG test will be held for all medical courses and colleges, including AIIMS, JIPMER, and AFMC. Those colleges will not have a separate admission test.

NEET-UG Eligibility Criteria
NEET-UG Tentative Dates

Below table shows the typical dates of application, exam, and results:

Submission of Application Forms online begins1st week of December
Submission of Application Forms ends1st week of January
Uploading of Admit Cards on the website ends2nd week of April
Date of Entrance Exam1st Sunday of May
Announcement of Results1st week of June
Number of MBBS & BDS Colleges and Seats

The below table shows split of government and private colleges in India.

The below table shows how many seats there are in both the government and private colleges for medical students in India.

NEET – Exam Pattern

All questions in the NEET exam will be MCQ type having 4 options in which 1 option is supposed to be correct. 4 marks will be rewarded for each correct option while 1 mark will be deducted for one wrong answer.

In total 200 MCQs will be asked but the candidate needs to attempt only 180 questions. In Section A of all subjects (i.e., Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology), 35 questions will be asked and the candidate has to answer all the questions. Whereas in Section B, 15 questions will be asked and only 10 questions need to be answered.

Hence, 45 out of 50 questions need to be attempted from each subject (Section A + Section B). With 4 marks for each correct answer being awarded, the total marks for each subject become (45*4) = 180. Therefore, for 4 subjects carrying 180 marks the total marks of the NEET exam become (180*4) = 720.

Check out the below table for better clarity.
